STRI and EGE Fortuna also welcome visiting field courses and “nature tourists” (such as bird-watching groups), to the Fortuna station on a space-available basis. Individuals interested in staying at Fortuna need to arrange their visit preferably 2 months or more in advance by contacting Orelis Arosemena in the Visitor Services Office at the Tupper Research and Conference Center, in Panama City (email: Arosemo@si.edu, phone +507 212-8016; fax +507 212-8148).
If you are a scientist wanting to work in the reserve, to make reservations you must meet the following requirements:
- Obtain approval for your research project and its dates from STRI by submitting the “Research Application Form”
- Obtain an ANAM research/collecting permit and submit it through STRI visitors office.
- Obtain an EGE-Fortuna S.A. research permit and submit it through STRI’s visitors office along with a copy of your approved ANAM permit.
If you are not an investigator but wish to view Fortuna and its flora and fauna, you should discuss your visit directly with the STRI Visitor’s Office.
