Cruise Financing
The Chief Scientist must complete financial arrangements and the preliminary payment with the Vessel Superintendent 30 days before the cruise. At that time the Chief Scientist will be charged the provisional daily rate for operating days. Those provisional charges will be reconciled with actual usage at the end of the cruise.
Time is charged per cruise day (no part-days), with a cruise beginning at the hour the ship leaves its berth at Naos and ending at the hour it returns to that berth.
Rates for Urraca usage:
Communications costs: The Chief Scientist is responsible for all communications costs incurred by the scientific party on a cruise, and will be billed accordingly. Inmarsat C usage is free to science users. Inmarsat B costs up to $10/min (for high speed data) and both incoming and outgoing traffic (voice, fax and email) are charged for. Contact the Vessel Superintendent before your cruise to discuss your communication needs and costs thereof.
