The Smithsonian Foundation of Panama is a non-profit Panamanian organization created in 1996 by a group of well-known members of the Panamanian community. After a series of meetings with Dr. Ira Rubinoff, Director of the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, this group of individuals decided to form an organization that would support and disseminate the work of the Institution in Panama.
